An Afternoon at the Market

Who: Jericho & Myss Wykkyd
Where: The Saturday Market in Jump City Park
When: Early Afternoon, Saturday...after a week or so after all the Ryder drama

As usual, the sun shined down on that brisk autumn morning. In spite of the slightly chilly (how could anyone call Jump City weather cold anyway?) people took advantage of the weekly outdoor market at the park. They milled about the booths, glancing at the fresh organic produce, the knick-knacks, and the local art work. Among these sat the "live art" display, with the artists creating their work under the public eye. Among these artists played the street musicians, playing a variety of genres, each at different corners of the market.

Joey listened to them as he worked on his latest commissioned painting. He gently guided the paint brush across the canvas, slipping farther and farther into his own little world. Forget Tibet or his apartment, he truly felt at home  here. Only performing on stage ever came close. As much fun as he had playing his guitar, Joey liked the peace he found in art. All the stress, all the pain, all the guilt of late he passed through the brush into the painting. Right now it seemed rather abstract, but Joseph Wilson found himself in a rather abstract mood.

The whole experience with his father, and Ryder had left him numb. What did victory mean anymore? What did loss mean? What did anything mean? He felt so confused, which might explain the random shape the painting had started to take. Joey set the brush down and rubbed his brow. Glancing around, he noticed all the additional people wandering around the market. Wow...he'd been here longer than he thought. The mute smiled slightly at the growing art audience, feeling a little uncomfortable with all the attention.
