"What the hell am I getting myself into?" Ruby X asked her reflection in the bathroom mirror, combing her hair. "This is a bad idea, I know it's a bad idea, so why am I doing it?"
She paused for a moment before slipping on her small crucifix necklace. Ruby may not be religious but sooner or later, nearly everyone in her line of work became a bit superstitious. She could use the luck anyway. She kissed it for luck, and gave herself a once over in the mirror.
Do I look like a slut or what? she thought with a nervous chuckle. I even got the hooker boots to complete it, she thought. Well, she really did have the hooker boots, black even. Along with a pair of jean shorts that may or may not have qualified as Daisy Dukes, she wore a white tank top that bared her mid-drift, and a pair of black gloves that went to her biceps (she like the long gloves of her X suit, it just carried more than often into her regular clothes).
"...I'll grab that parka vast thing," she decided aloud and hurried to her room to snatch it. While she was there, she caught sight of the yearbook sitting on her vanity/desk. Pausing a moment, she walked over to grab it, giving her reflection a long, hard look as she picked up the book. "It's fucking Ran. I tease this guy mercilessly on IM, and I'm still all worked up," she paused to press a hand to her forehead. "I'm an idiot...but I'll blame it on the hormones."
She straightened back and glared for good measure at her reflection. "I'm Ruby X. He might be a Titan, but he's still a guy...who's attracted to 'me'." (If she kept this up, she had better not end up a schizoid from playing at two different people...but telling him the truth? That would be insane.) "I can so do this." As if to prove it, she decided the she would leave her parka-coat-vest-thing open and let any guy look. She was Ruby X and damn if she wasn't a looker as well. She smirked, "go get 'im, Rube."
With that, she turned, book in one hand, purse in the other, and walked out the door. So the coffee shop on Eastern then, she thought, recalling what Ran had said. She had to admit, she admired his taste in scenery if not coffee. Liquid caffeine was something Ruby sworn to give up when she had rather foolishly drank a cup before a "job" and was so excitable that she nearly gave herself a heart attack when a cop almost caught her, seems adrenaline and caffeine were not things she should mix lightly. Still, there was more than coffee usually sold at a coffee shop, she'd survive.
The coffee shop was too far away to just walk there, so she walked down to the parking lot behind her apartment building and kicked her motorcycle into life. After the last bike had had its "accident" she had decided to remake it without the X insignia marking it as Ruby X's. It was more convenient that way.
She sat for a minute, enjoying listening to it rev before taking off at a questionable speed to the coffee shop. She reached it in record time (considering that she hadn't stopped for anyone or anything) and pulled up to it. She got off her bike, and walked in, clutching her book. She ordered a hot chocolate (she needed her chocolate fix for the day anyway) and sat down to wait for Ran.
