I just watched a segement on the news about the snow storm that moved through Tuesday and yesterday. One bit was about motorists who were stranded in Chicago as the storm hit there. Another was about the 70-some roofs that collapsed in New England due to the heavy snow. The thing that struck me in both cases was that folks should have known ( Read more... )

Wind gusts of up to 100km/hr; falling snow; blowing snow; wind chills; white outs; brilliant sunshine - all in the space of 20 minutes! Repeat over and over and that has been today.

Blowing snow and low visibility most of the afternoon. Switched to ice pellets (but higher visibility) somewhere between 3:30 and 4pm (or, for me, between Blair and Kitchener - I'm not sure if time or location is a more accurate measure).

Now it's snowing again, but with gusting, rather than steady, winds.

The drive into work today was not bad at all, just a little slower than usual. Still I found myself shaking my head a couple times and thinking, "It's snow, people! It happens every year!" So we're all whinging in KW about the flurries and the dusting of snow that stuck yesterday (although those two snow squalls at 1:15 and 5:45 were impressive), but the news says they had 30 inches of wet snow overnight in Buffalo!
