I think I miss Alex already ... and he's not even gone yet. I can hear his hearts shattering when he gets the letter. And, I'm so sad for him. Poor Alex indeed. (But he was young. And he coped.)
At least, Alex2 gets to show her Mars and give her a gentle push in her own future, supporting Adelaine. Ourobos...
I do look forward to the story about how he got grounded. Of all the truths Allison wants ... (chuckles with her own amusement). I'm wondering what people imagine. *g*
Yes, he coped. But, the horrible evil alien is going to get him now. *sniffles* And, he doesn't have anyone to help. Too many gods ... not enough humans.
I bet it was something foolish and dangerous. Like the laser screwdriver story ... only he didn't get killed. *chuckles* Allison isn't familiar with the TCE. Alex could have his father's more dangerous ... no .. cruel? ... weapon at his disposal.

He's good at coping - it's what he brought himself up to do. And he's still young, remember. This incarnation is in many ways a reaction against the first one - uncompromising where he used to be manipulative.

I have mixed feelings about this chapter and they all stem from my emotions rather than the excellent writing.
I don't like the fact Seeker dictated Allison's life to her, even if he was actually dictating his own. However, a part of me thinks this is just because I'm a ticked off little shipper who doesn't want to be Jossed. I think it will take time before I figure out the truth.
As glad as I was to see Allison get a chance to see Mars, a part of me also sees that as some kind of distraction. It's like Seeker is going, here look it, look at all these swell things you get to do, pay no attention to the fact I've just crushed some of your dreams and made that crushing all about me. However I must again point to the bitter shipper who got Jossed. (I'm going to have a firm talking to to her and try and get her to come to grips with reality, but since she still ships B/A this is likely a lost cause.)
I really enjoyed this chapter, and I'm looking forward to seeing how things end up. Thanks for taking us on such a fun trip so far.

They got screwed over by time - it's difficult. He is trying - maybe not very well, but *trying* - to somehow explain to her how it all works and why things have to be like they are. Have you seen The Girl in the Fireplace? It's very much like that. (Darn, I meant to include a reference to that, might sneak one in next chapter.)

My heart hurts for her - and HER Alex. Because now THIS Alex understands. He knows what happened centuries ago and it must hurt him to push it into motion.
So many amazing and terrible things can derive from one instant. And that one instant can be wonderful and awful all at once...

Also, never fall in love with a time traveller. It's funny, because the show has explored lots of the issues, even as I've been planning this (and I've had it planned for years and years). Introducing Adelaide, for example. (And oh, I just want to hug everyone at this point. Sorry about the broken hearts.)
