Illness and death and disease and Glee

- First, news on my mother: she's going to be on chemotherapy again before the end of the year, a higher dose than four years ago, so this time she's going to lose all her hair. After that there'll be a course of Radiotherapy. The doctors are really trying to kill off everything at this point, I guess.

- The doctor who was originally supposed to treat her, Dr Ken Atkinson, died last week or the week before. That was why her appointments kept getting moved before, because he got sick. And he never got better. Apparently he was one of the best doctors in Sydney.

- And viciousdisorder's Christmas party on Saturday, was awesome: everyone was happy to just be there, and people liked their presents, so all that shopping stress was worth it. She put together a lovely lunch table, and those of us that could make it had a great time. Thank you again, viciousdisorder, for organising it all, even with your Wisdom surgery. It was wonderful!

- starwolvie, I hope you're feeling better by now, and if not, I hope you're better soon.

- I'm much better than last week. Still a slight cough, but hardly worth mentioning. Although I still sound like a frog. Maybe my voice is breaking! XD

- I have now got flylikethewind obsessed with Glee. I'm still working on viciousdisorder. And everyone else. I'll get there.

One day, I will rule the world with my brain. ^_^

Resistance is futile.

In the meantime, I have more thoughts:

The other possibility for Blaine's characterisation is that he is a great big liar. He could certainly turn out to be somewhat of a villain. Both he and Sam are in narrative positions that would allow for that.

I mean, I think it's unlikely. I think that if he were a villain, there would at least be a hint or two early on, and I'm pretty sure Karofsky, Sue, and Santana will manage to create enough drama between them to last the season. And if they don't, Vocal Adrenalin will, since we're now on the road to Regionals again.

I still prefer to think of Blaine as I have before: inside the relaxed, expressive guy Kurt saw at Breadstix, and outside, the restrained, straight-laced guy everyone sees at school. A facade, rather than two-faced. I still think he's a good guy who wants the best for Kurt. I'm just not sure we or Kurt would necessarily agree on what's best for Kurt.

Anyway, I can see the different possibilities. Which is cool. I know other people had completely different interpretations of scenes, which, try as I might (and I have tried), I can't see, and then there are others I can see on an intellectual level, even if it doesn't feel right to my interpretation. This is why I'm so interested to see where this season goes next year: so many possibilities!

This show's not exactly subtle. It tends to beat you over the head with ideas and plot points. Which I'm all for. To mix metaphors, I'm a big fan of shoving ideas down people's throats, especially when they're my ideas. ~_^ And this show is a singing, dancing, colourful, flag-waving, drum-beating, horn-blowing carnival marching across the TV screen every week. Not very subtle at all. But that doesn't mean there aren't different ways of interpreting the same scene.

And I'm certainly open to the idea of being wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. I hope I'm not, but hey, it'll be fun finding out.

Must watch more!

- I can't believe I'm reading tweets by a bird. A bird called Pavarotti. Who gets fed glitter.
You know you're a high-class singing sensation when your morning birdseed sparkles in the light!.

I'm not sure which joker is behind this (probably one of the Warblers), but I am impressed.

Oh god, this show is taking over my brain!

glee, life stuff
