GODDAMNIT! Why has no one else seen the Christmas episode of Glee yet?! *ignores voice in head chanting 'because you couldn't wait and got it early, you idiot'*
Loved it so much! Just... GAH! Must... talk... to... someone... about... *gnaws on chair*
Where do I start?
This is the Christmas episode, and as cheesy as those usually are, on this show, just the fact that it *is* cheesy works. Because Glee is wacky and whimsical and musical-esque and occasionally serious. So it all works beautifully.
Finn is awesome in this episode. He doesn't get a lot of episodes in which to be awesome, but I really loved him in this. You could tell how much he loved everything to do with Christmas: the real tree, the atmosphere. (On that note: I would have loved to have seen a scene from the Hummel-Hudson family, because surely Kurt wouldn't stay at school over the holidays, and I'd love to see all four family members together at some point. Now that I think about it, maybe I'll write that story myself...)
I was really hoping they'd address the point that not all the kids celebrate Christmas, ie. Rachel and Puck being Jewish, so I'm glad Rachel talked about her family's lack of Christmas, eating Chinese and watching TV. But it also made sense that she would throw herself into Christmas just to get Finn back, after she found out it was his favourite holiday.
And I'm glad Finn didn't forgive her, not because I'm mean and horrible, but because it's so much more believable that he would still be hurting and want some more time. Understandable. Poor guy keeps having his girlfriends cheat on him with his ex-best friend, Puck.
I also loved Sue. But that's helped by the fact that Jane Lynch can do no wrong. Sue is just an awesome character: nasty and cruel, but surprisingly caring when it matters. They should have kept the title "Sue the Grinch", but oh well. Either way, it's really only to be expected that Sue rig the Secret Santa at school, isn't it?
My favourite songs this episode were "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" by k. d. lang and Matthew Morrison, the final performance in the teacher's lounge with "Welcome Christmas", which was just gorgeous and, of course, this one:
Blaine and Kurt singing "Baby, it's Cold Outside"
Which, as the actors have also noted, is a bit of a creepy song, so I'm glad it's not performed "seriously", but rather as practice for a performance Blaine is involved in.
I still think he's a character with two facets: He's just slightly camped up when he's alone with Kurt. As opposed to when he's around the other guys at school.
Also, what the hell kind of room is that?! Choir room? Common room? How freakishly rich is that school, anyway?
I said this last week, but I still love their friendship, so I'd be happy if they never end up as anything more than friends. They're so wonderfully comfortable around each other. That's still true, but then this happened, which I wasn't expecting at all:

I did not expect him to admit to any kind of feelings yet! I'm glad I'm so paranoid about spoilers. These surprises are so much better.
But he is right, it's a step up from crushing on straight guys. ^^;;
And I need a Kurt of my own to help with my Christmas presents, because I suck at coming up with anything for my brother.
And finally... Brittany reminds me of Luna Lovegood. I know they're completely different and Brittany is supposed to be a blonde bimbo, but she just comes across as being off in her own world most of the time, where magic is completely normal, even on a show whose reality is at right angles to our reality.
She's also very sweet.
Brittany: I'm bringing a gift to put under the tree for the homeless kids. It's a dollhouse. At least their dolls won't be homeless.
My new crack-ship is Lauren and Puck. It's unlikely to ever happen, but it would be unusual and really cool. Puck just loves women - all women - and Lauren obviously wants him, and given last episode's seven-minutes-in-heaven, which Puck obviously enjoyed, they should definitely get together as far as I'm concerned. Plus that means he'd stop stealing Finn's girlfriends, because Lauren would break his legs if he cheated on her.
Besides, that would leave Santana free to get back together with Brittany, which I'm all for. *^_^* Win-win all round.
Also, Coach Beiste is one of my favourite characters. She's so sweet. She's gorgeous.
Now to catch up on the episodes I missed before February comes around with new episodes.
