Okay, so you already know that Bebe has started crawling. (I still can't get the video to post, sorry! I'm working on it.) This week has been full of other firsts. Here's the short list:
1. Yesterday he figured out how to pull himself up to standing holding onto the rails of his crib. This amuses him greatly and he will start giggling before he is even fully standing. He will hold on with only one hand and pivot to look around or grab a different side (if he's in the corner) of the crib.
2. Yesterday he also figured out how to hold on to the side of the crib while standing and move his feet. This looks suspiciously like a precursor to walking. Yikes!
3. He has finally really got a handle on eating and is a little porker. He is showing signs of understanding the sign for food, although it's not as clear as when I make the sign for milk.
4. Bebe now knows how to reach out toward someone to ask to be held or picked up. We're working on him using the sign for please, but that's a concept not a physical thing, so it might take a while.
5. His crawling is more articulated, in that he uses his knees about half the time instead of inch-worming along.
6. And last, but certainly not least, he is now sleeping in his own crib ALL the time. It's a major victory as we reclaim our bedroom. Woohoo!
Some of these aren't nearly as exciting as others, but it's been a big week for Bebe. I have a feeling the other big one (sleeping through the night) is a long way off, since I couldn't even walk away to go to the restroom without him screaming last night. And, yes, mio marito was holding him, but Bebe didn't stop screaming until he could see me again. I had been out all night and had to pump, which I did in his room so that he could hang out in his crib and see me. He thought it was very entertaining and laughed quite a lot while he pulled himself up to a standing position over and over again in his crib.
Alright, I'm off to work on posting some new pics. Mio marito and I have stayed home today to do yard and house work and I'm finally making some inroads on a few projects. Whew!
