Happy weekend, all

So I spent a lot of Friday doing things I shouldn't have, in the grand scheme of things:  I slept for 11 hours, didn't go to the gym,  skipped class, and skipped swim practice.

Granted, I skipped class so that I could drive one of my swingers to the orthopedic surgeon because the emergency room was pretty sure she needed to get her fractured elbow casted; the surgeon said nope, just a splint, which she was happy about.  It was okayed by my prof.

And I skipped swim practice to hang out in the pottery studio.  And turned one of my mugs into a squid, and threw a pitcher form that's going to be a bird (seagull, maybe?), possibly with little nestling cups.

Went to dinner with my freshman year hall, went to SCF in the hopes that it would be a fluffy feel-good message.  And I got something even better, which was fantastic.  I was knitting during most of the actual talk, but just got this incredible peace, surrounded by a bunch of the most unselfrighteous people I know, and it was one of those awesome God-moments.

Went from SCF to the contra, hung out with some of the folk dance people & again had my knitting out; got to exchange questions with one of the Martyrs who was sitting there spinning as I was knitting (sadly, I didn't know the answers to her questions:  I don't know what kind of yarn it was, or how the color was dyed, or even where it came from), and it makes me really want to learn how to spin.  Because really?  What could be cooler?  (Learning to purl without having brain conniptions first.  Then we'll see.)

Today was a city day - went in to the art museum, where there were fantastic exhibits.  I actually went into the modern art wing, which I usually avoid like the plague, and found a couple of things that I actually liked, others that I could almost understand, and only a few that I actively wanted to tear off the walls.  Went up to the armor exhibit, which I always like, and across to the Perelman building, where I've never been before.  Some beautiful(ly creepy) Eakins doctor-portraits, some fantastic minimalist white porcelain, and crazy awesome lamps rounded out the museuming.

Went to hang out with Cori, which was both good and bad.  She's disgustingly adorable with this boy that she suddenly has; he seems nice & I did the big sister interrogation/btw if you hurt her I'll beat you up.  However, he's British, tall, good-looking, and plays the guitar (evidently all the time).  And she likes him.  So.  I may not have to try to frighten people.  She is, however, convinced that if she doesn't do work every minute of every day, she's not working hard enough.  And though she's enjoying the work, that doesn't necessarily make it healthy.  And she thinks that Tyler is more work than Swat.  Which... yeah.

Had dinner with Cori, my cousin Beth, and Beth's boyfriend.  Twas nice to get to hang out with Beth, and we had absolutely spectacular sushi.  And then I got us lost in a mildly sketchy alleyway and Cori got snippy with me, and was pretty happy to get back to her life, which doesn't involve siblings who try to give her advice and pry about her personal life.

Took me about an hour and a half to get back to Swat what with getting randomly lost on Temple's campus and the train schedules.  But so be it.  I had Ben & Jerry's when I got back (because Cori's meal plan includes pints, somehow, and she didn't want this one) which was pretty much liquified and exploded all over me.  But was delicious.  Called a couple of friends, it disappeared in less than 5 min.  And then we cranked up the music and danced in the hallway :)
