Today instead of studying for finals, I drove to the Woodburn Tulip Festival. I'd been dying to go to this for years, but it coincides with finals every year. However this is my last spring in Oregon, and therefore my last chance. I looked them up and saw they were planning to "top" the tulips tomorrow (say that five times fast) so it was really today or nothing. Pouring rain wasn't going to stop me either.

I wish I'd played around more with macros. I wasn't keen on kneeling in the mud though. Guess I'm not a real photographer, unwilling to go the distance for the craft.

I think these purple ones were my favorite of all.

These orange ones were HUGE, each blossome was probably the length of my hand. I wish I'd had a way to show scale.

You can't have a tulip field without a fake windmill, apparently.

...or a giant wooden shoe.

The little green thing is a tractor. I'm pretty sure it was left there just for photographic purposes because they sell postcards and greeting cards with the very same one.

You can see how muddy it was. Fortunately I remembered to grab my hiking boots along with my rain jacket and a warm hat. There were so many wet people and childen covered head-to-toe in mud there. It would suck your feet in and make glopping noises as you walked. Little rivers were forming between the rows of flowers. I was soaked by the time I got back to my car.

It was really neat. I'm glad I finally got to see it.
