Got home a bit late last night thanks to heavy fog at Hartsfield. Now I'm going thru nearly 1000 pictures of the Macy's Parade.
Like last year, I shot the whole thing with a wide angle lens, but I think I spent too much time hanging around Herald Square, so this year I stayed up at Columbus Circle for an hour before spending most of the rest of the parade in Times Square, where the light was. The light in Columbus sucked ass - the sun was behind us, but the buildings blocked it; so the only light was reflecting directly back at us from the Trump Tower, leaving the parade in the Circle in shadow while the parade way back in front of Trump Tower in sunlight.
I stayed in Times Square until Santa showed up at 11:30, and then I raced him down to Herald Square, which wasn't as easy as it sounds. My legs are still killing me from all the squatting and running and stopping and squatting and standing and running and.... Ouch.
Not many stories this go round. We missed the 6:17 train because Dad forgot his second (rented) camera. We got to the station at 6:15, but were at the house retrieving said camera at 6:17 when the train showed up on time. We took the special 6:51 instead and got to the 81 Street station (Museum of Natural History) at around 8:30.
I got caught up in the Miley Cyrus scrum. She had extra security. Man, the paparazzi are annoying. We didn't get to talk much to our cousin this time since we didn't get to Herald Square until the end. Turns out her partner was in charge of getting Miley (and her retinue) onto and off the Bolt float. It was a pain in the ass, but uneventful.
I didn't get caught walking down the street alone this year. I was more confident jumping into the middle of the street to get a shot and pointing the camera at people to get crowd shots.
OK, back to the grind of going thru 1000 pictures...
