Dad & I went into Manhattan today. We spent the middle of the day on the newly reopened Intrepid, which was cool (and cold) but not worth the $20 admission price (plus $25 for parking). Unless we missed an entire deck of stuff, which is possible.
We spent the afternoon at the Macy's Parade balloon inflation on 78th and 79th streets. We have All Access passes again this year, but didn't hang around much this time. The Buzz Lightyear balloon is pretty cool, and Horton the elephant (from Horton Hears a Who) looked weird on his side. All the hot dog stands closed just before we got there (four of them! bastards!), so instead we got free chili and soup from Macy's. Score!
Tomorrow, we'll be up at oh-dark-thirty to catch the train into Manhattan to be at the parade start by 8:00. I'll try to spend more time in Columbus Circle and Times Square this year - last year, I think I spent too much time in Herald Square, and it's not like Macy's didn't have an entire three-hour broadcast's worth of pictures from that spot. I think we're going to follow Santa down there, though, so we can meet up with our cousin, who runs the whole thing. Biggest prompt book ever!
