so in the washington dc area, 9/11 is still a constant part of almost every day. (not that it isn't where you are, but i know that due to the proximity et al it's still very prevalent to hear/see things about it). i know that people grieve and deal with tragedy in different ways, but two things as of late struck me in rather poor taste, even though i'm sure they didn't mean anything bad at all by what they did.
one would be a license plate i saw a few weeks back - virginia, like a few other states, has a 9/11 plate. actually they have at least two, if i remember. this particular one said something to the effect of "NO HJAK" - really? really? does that need to be said on your LICENSE PLATE? not my plate.
the other i saw today. it's popular for painters (especially small business ones) to magnet/decal up their cars as a form of free advertising. so today when i saw 'let's roll' painters, i just hoped that it wasn't 9/11 related. looking at their logo as they drove past, clearly my hope was misplaced:
not what i would have picked, but i'm sure they view it as a nice tribute.
