Mar 19, 2007 13:39

so this weekend was a sew-fest. i hadn't started any of my d*c work yet, but i'm starting to get into full swing. it's really not even just for then anymore - i'd really like to have a non-helmet character for the 501st for those events when i need to sit (like the children's hospital) or for if we need a wrangler, or for when i'd like to take ( Read more... )

Hey! Your hat looks great. :) How did it go? I found that with mine it went together pretty easily, except for one part of the top that I COULD NOT get to lie completely flat (i.e., no little puckers where it joined to the crown) no matter how hard I tried. Good news was, that was behind the upward flap on the front.

I keep trying to think of places to wear my costume. It's just so much fun to be dressed up as a stiff-necked Imperial Savior of Civilization. Er, or... the bad guy, if you swing that way. ;)

*cough*501st*cough*

your costume would totally qualify you, and there's lots of events in the dc area! :)

Hee! I'm actually considering it, despite my earlier protests of disinterest. Unfortunately, I'll be leaving for Islamabad in July -- is there any point in joining up for a couple of months?

jodi's doing an inara costume for d*c, i'm doing jayne, we have 2 potential washes, a mal, 1 or 2 kaylees, a simon, possibly a river. but no zoe.

so you know... just sayin... if you did get things together... ;)

i'm going to see how in-shape i can get for jayne. i'm down to "average guy" size now, but i'm hoping to tone up a bit. i'll never look like adam baldwin, but i'll see what i can do.

oo really?

really?

REALLY?

dammit. see, now i have to do it. :P

plus it'll be great motivation to lose the weight.

so i suppose what i'm asking is... can i be your zoe? :P

woo! i'm in! :)

now on for the mad, mad search for a mare's leg - finding that gun for under 1400 will be harder than losing the weight!

The hat is awesome. *salutes* Sir yes sir!

I’d love to do an officer one day too.

Or rather I would love to make an officer costume :p

I feel guilty not doing the non-costume support role lately.
With an officer costume I could be costumed-non-costumed support ;)
Plus after suffering through 2 events in the same day inside a helmet I would love one event with air.

Excellent work on the hat! I am very much in awe of your skills; I am still too much of a sewing newb to make my own patterns other than for bags and t-shirts.

I'm like you with the crafty stuff, I do it in spurts too. I've been sewing for other people a lot lately for some reason which had kind of put me off it for a while. But for the first time in ages I actually worked on a project for myself this weekend, I started a cute little red and camo sundress that I can't wait to finish. Unfortunately I talked myslf into some mini-pom-pom details around the bodice and the bottom hem which means HAND-SEWING, ugh. But the result will be adorable. *fingers crossed*

This looks awesome. I have to say, it sounds like a lot of fun and quite a challenge.
