help me before i sew again
so this weekend was a sew-fest. i hadn't started any of my d*c work yet, but i'm starting to get into full swing. it's really not even just for then anymore - i'd really like to have a non-helmet character for the 501st for those events when i need to sit (like the children's hospital) or for if we need a wrangler, or for when i'd like to take pictures.
i finished the hat for my officer yesterday. for a first go, it came out pretty well i think:

jacket is next. i'm going to start cutting out mock up pieces of that tonight i think.
i've also got a two other from scratch costumes i need to finish before sept (part of a group for each of them). i may put my nini rework on the back burner and not bring that one, but i'm not making any solid decisions yet - that could just be a quick project when all is said and done, it just needs to be taken in (A WHOLE LOT) and have the windmills put on the skirt. well, some other minor additions as well, but hey, we'll see.
i've also made a deal with myself in that if i can get to a certain weight prior to july i'm also going to do a zoe costume from firefly. the premade vest from abbyshot (which i've seen in person before so i know how well it's made) is somewhat pricy, so that deters me from wanting to do it unless i'm actually to a place where i feel as if i'll look pretty damn good in it. so we'll see about that one - almost a costume-treat. :P my hair will also be long enough to not need a wig too by then, for that or my padme, which is good.
i also made a non-costume shirt this weekend - or most of one. i'm actually thinking of leaving the sleeves off, because it's pretty cute as is. it's a wee bit small, but it's also a 12 pattern wise, which is pretty nifty too. i'll probably put the sleeves on and take pictures sometime tonight/tomorrow, depending.
this is my thing with sewing (or rather everything) - i do it in spurts. but i usually don't even start until 3 days before i'm wanting to wear these things, so it's nice to find the motivation early enough to do things right(ish) the first time. :)
