Ok, so the fitting for Marmie's bodice didn't go so well. Everything is good except for the sleeve area. I used the pagoda sleeve pattern from Period Costume for Stage and Screen. Now, this is pretty much a straight sleeve head, no curve. I thought it would work ok with a normal-ish armscye, and maybe even allow more range of motion. WRONG! ( Read more... )

The 1830's dress fits, and nicely.  I do need to fix a couple little things on it (add a piece of boning to keep the CB closure from bunching, move a couple hooks and eyes), but nothing major.  It looks really pretty on her, too. In the last several hours I've pretty much finished Marmie's bodice...I just need to put the lining in one sleeve, attach the sleeves, arrange the peplum thingy and put a few buttons on.  I am so tired, but now I don't have to stress over this tomorrow (This needs to be done by Tuesday night and I can't work on it tomorrow evening or Tuesday at all ( Read more... )

I just got a volunteer costume job at a very nice community theater. The show: Beauty and the Beast. So this means in the next 2 months I (along with the two ladies who manage costumes) will be making 3 Belle dresses and many of the enchanted object costumes.
