And so it begins.

The 2nd twin bed in my room has been rearranged to make way for sewing stuff.  Later, when I'm actually to a sewing stage, I'll move the machine cabinet in here. Until then, I'll cut on the floor. Hooray for A/C!

The striped silk taffeta got the better of me, in the end. I think it possibly even invaded my dreams last night, which is a sure sign that it clearly needs to be made into something.  And so it begins.

I wasn't sure where I wanted to go with this particular bustle dress, so I poked around online for all of 5 minutes before re-discovering this stripy pink one, thanks to
jenthompson.  If you remove all the extra silly frilly bits, its basically what I want.  Actually, I'm going to take elements from the one on the left, as well...I like the point on the apron, and the jabot thing.

The only question is, do want to make the ENTIRE thing out of the stripe? Is that too much brain-hurting stripy action? Is that even possible? So I threw the fabric on a form in a vague dress shape.

with flash and without.
