"couldn't you have just made a NEW dress?"

Aug 31, 2007 14:38

Somehow, over the course of the past year or so, I have become one of those people who buys about 3/4 of their clothing at thrift stores, goodwill, and vintage.  Anyway, I found this dress at my local thrift store, and it was a DOLLAR. and it is RAW SILK. and a one of my favorite shades of blue! So I bought it.  Only problem? It was kind of...really ugly. And about 2 sizes too big, anyway.

So after taking the sleeves off and taking it in about 4" at the side seams and re-shaping the armholes and unpicking the front bodice from the waistband/yoke to move the gathering towards the front more (whew!), here's what I've got:

Much less 80's frump and much more 50's/60's vintage!
Now I am trying to decide if I should re-shape the neckline or leave it be.

The window AC unit in my room just broke. This is TERRIBLE.
