Melinda and I have just bought a new condo. It's about half a mile from where we live now and in a lot of ways quite similar, but it's in an older building and unlike our current place we can actually see the sky from the windows.

What a fantastic idea - a couple of people on Capitol Hill have taken to leaving poetry out for public consumption. We've had Guerilla Gardening [speaking of which - Melinda and I are going to have a lot of spare strawberry runners soon; I am especially eager to spread the natives], is it time for guerilla poetry?

In other news, the P-Patch Post came today, with my article on the front page. It's only a community newsletter with a circulation of a thousand or less 1700, but it's very satisfying seeing my words in print all the same.

Just in case anyone might be interested, I've been doing some writing recently, so I can show potential employers that I can write non-academic pieces, and explain political and technical issues in a non-specialist way. I've been quite enjoying it, so I think I might try my hand at more if I can find an audience, but for now there are two pieces ( Read more... )

The last few days have been grand. We've had guests in town. First Cindy from Cleveland, who is now in Vancouver for a conference, and will pass through here again on the way home, and the day she left Melinda's parents arrived for 9 day stay, incorporating a car show next weekend.
