sCapote-~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After being widely praised by critics, I was a bit reserved about seeing this movie. I knew the acting would be wonderful, as Philip Seymour Hoffman is a great actor, but what I was skeptical about was the actual movie. After a view I think all of my reservations about the movie had come true. I found no fault with any of the acting but the movie itself failed to maintain my interest. I found my mind wandering in and out of the movie. The story was interesting enough but I think that they way it was executed was just not flamboyant, it was story driven and it seemed like they shirked on the movement. Though long speeches and semi-engaging dialogue the characters don’t move. It all seemed kind of robotic, and that made me feel less for the actual characters. If they characters didn’t seem so cookie cutter then the emotion they emitted would have been believable. I hardly think that this is the fault of the actors themselves, and falls into the hands of the director. Hoffman does an amazing job changing his entire body into Capote though, which is why I feel like the actors are not at fault here. Honestly I had the hardest time believing that Hoffman was playing Truman Capote. I have seem Hoffman in multiple other roles and man he plays is this role. But enough about him and more about the movie. A potentially moving and dramatic picture ruined by faulty directing. It’s a sad world where such great acting talent can be wasted on a mere mediocre movie.

My Score- B

+(the acting is dead on and the story has some good potential)

-(The directing is off and moves too quickly for it’s own good)

IMDB Score: 7.7
