Was awake a lot of the night last night and so slept in as late as I could this morning before I left to go hiking with Candy. We went to the Kennerdell Tract - the DeWoody parking lot. I have always noticed a wide trail off to the left at the north entrance into the woods. In the past we always took the right trail because that is the path to the overlook. I saw that left trail today and suddenly said to Candy we need to explore that! It was beautiful this morning with a faint fog lifting and then the bright sun on the autumn leaves. We went about a mile on the woods road past a couple oil and gas wells and then the road petered out. Turned around and followed another woods road back so it was a loop. After that we hiked over to the hill I call The Knob and headed back from there. What a colorful day. After all the dark and rainy days and muted autumn colors it was great to have a bright day. It felt like such a blessing to be able to be outside and in the woods, shuffling through the noisy leaves.

When I got home I ate lunch and then took the dogs for a walk down back. This is a picture of our woods looking up towards the house.

Now that I've sat down and taken a break on the computer I should probably try to do something useful with myself. Either something useful or take a nap.

autumn, what to do with myself, candy, kennerdell tract clear creek forest, sleepless night, exploring
