We wondered why those young people were in such a big hurry on Tuesday when we saw them near that old homestead site on the Marion Brooks loop trail and yesterday morning there was an article in the paper about a race that they were in to bike, hike and canoe around that area.
You can click the picture and it will be bigger. I made a mistake when I was writing on Wednesday about where we were on our anniversary hike on Tuesday. It was the Moshannon State Forest - not the Allegheny National Forest, though the two forests are near each other. This also explains why the people were from such diverse areas as Seattle and Denmark when Dave asked them where they were from. On our way there we passed another team of fast walking hikers on the highway heading to that area. They also looked odd - walking so fast.
***** After our bike ride to Five Turtle Rock yesterday Jan and I had lunch at Benjamin's. Across the street is a tiny antique shop called The Printer's Cabinet, beside the library. I had never been in it before. So interesting. The guy that runs it has my kind of taste in old things. I just took a couple random pictures:
