The question:
14 What are your Top Ten favorite books?
My first reaction to this question? Oh dear god, I don't have time for this. Then, I know that is my reaction because I can't remember the books I have read all that well. I started out in life as a book reader but have fallen away from it. It takes me months to finish a book sometimes. I can recall the book I am reading at the moment - so it's my favorite. Right now I am reading The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion. It is really good. I guess I like it because by now I have been through the deaths of a few of my own loved ones and can relate to a lot of her reactions and thinking. The death of a husband has got to be the worst though and I haven't been through that - or the death of a child.

Today - a coolish day and sunny. Candy and I are back in hiking mode and will hike at the Kennerdell Tract - the Ridge Trail.

There are some popular trails at the Kennerdell Tract - the overlook trail especially has a lot of people on the weekends. But on a Monday we RARELY ever see anyone on any of the other trails. I can probably count on one hand the times we have met another person. It is big woods and big spaces. You need to be a bit more prepared to go out there. I went though my winter hiking backpack this morning to freshen it. Put the gloves and knit hat and scarves that I haven't worn since last year in the wash. Added a couple granola bars. Made sure I had some water. Getting ready for a new season.
