There is a place on Ridge Trail that I really like - it has a hillside with projecting rocks covered with moss that you view from across a little valley that just seems magical to me. We always walk that loop trail in a counter clockwise direction and I thought it might be neat to see it from another angle today. Some pictures from the day:
We went on many different trails to make the loop today. Strip Mine Trail, Bear Wallow, Rock Oak, Pipeline and finally Ridge trail. This is a pond beside Strip Mine Trail.
Another view.
Candy on Rock Oak trail.
This is the place that I always think of as magical. It doesn't look that magical in photos though. I think you have to be there to experience the distance and the long line of green mossy rocks projecting from that far hillside.
This is the rock that we sat beside for our snack of apples and hot chocolate.
Many mossy rocks on this hillside. This is the "magical" hillside I mentioned before but now we are in the midst of the rocks.
Seemed extra bright green.
I forgot my hiking stick today but luckily there was a selection of them near the parking lot gate to choose from. That's a nice thing about hikers - usually near the beginning of a trail you can find walking sticks that previous hikers have left behind. A nice gift. I put the one I used back for the next forgetful person.
