Hot Tub Time Machine gets a bit thumbs up from me. Lots of fun. A sort of retro movie that exams what it would be like for your 40-year old self to visit your favorite party films from the 80s. I didn’t even mind that it borrowed so heavily from Back to the Future. They even cast Crispin “McFly” Glover, for goodness sake. (And he was brilliant.)
Nor did I mind the “You Haven’t Heard this Song Yet” moment. But it did heighten my fear of Black-Eyed Pea’s determined plan to forcibly take over the known universe. Apparently it isn’t enough for them to saturate all present-day media. Now they are determined to go back in time and rule the whole time-space continuum as well!!!
And don’t even get me started on the evil robots. Yes, the evil robots. I am convinced that the BEP’s have a Superman-like army of look-alike robots which allow them to be on all channels and all stations at all times. But I digress…
For sure, Hot Tub Time Machine is exactly what you expect, and successfully so. Its matinee popcorn that you’ll forget as soon as is passes. But every bite is a tasty treat.
Also: See if you can find the blonde bully from Karate Kid.
