I Will See It ... For Love
I love Tina Fey. I love Steve Carrell. And the thought of collaborating and co-starring on the big screen practically makes me week at the knees.
But... Those previews for "Date Night" totally suck ass! Really. It looks like a light-weight piece of nothing that's better suited basic cable. Not A&E basic cable. Lifetime basic cable.
And Fey's first time in front of the big-screen camera was only so-so . She and Amy Poehler (another should-have-been-dream-team) only managed a "meh" effort with "Baby Mama".
Still, I will hold out hope that "Date Night" will give us the Fey that wrote "Mean Girls", resuscitated the career of Alec Baldwen, and makes Steve Martin funny again whenever he's standing next to her. I hope it will give us the Steve Carrell who does...well, whatever he does to make the office so dang funny.
I hold out hope. But I don't expect. I will buy a ticket and hope the movie does well enough that Fey and Carrell will get a second chance.
