Weekend adventures outside the Shallott glass

Spent all day cooking. Yah, all day. I really suck at it. Luckily my fingernails have grown long enough to act as knife shields. Trimmed three nails :)

Had the French doors open when the thunderstorms rolled in. My littlest precious kitty got really scared. Somehow I was able to coax him out of hiding. I gave him a sprig of catnip that he immediately ate before I could stop him. We spent some time getting closer to the scary storm. At the end, I was laying on the carpet with the storm on my left and my kitty on the right. Mister purred storm side. The little one was relaxed enough to lie on his back, but he didn't want to be close to the scary rain and thunder bumpers without me.

I now have turmeric cabbage with mung beans, zucchini mung beans with lentils and turmeric basmati. It's all beautiful and tasty and fills up my fridge. Beans are soaking for urad dahl and I have to remember to cook the lotus root I have on hand. Hopefully that will happen tomorrow. I have a lot prepped already from accidentally prepping for the wrong recipe.

The kitchen is halfway clean, but I'm too tired to care. I've been in the thunderstorms since 2:45 am when they came hurtling down from nowhere so hard the rain was bouncing a foot off the roads like hail pellets. It was unfamiliar road, I was late and I had to pee - compliments from the last extended rendezvous of people watching and cover band giggles from the parking lot. I wanted to dance, but I drank a thermos of tea instead.

Before the rain came the humidity clung to my windshield like ghosts on visitation day. I couldn't see a thing turning my dials from banish to blow and cool to lukewarm and back again. The stickiness gave way a little on a state road as I passed through a field of puff orbs. Smash! The first curtain of rain hit my windshield with a blinding ferocity. Didn't last too long, but each time the road got dicey it came pouring down again. The survivors include one doe and one baby bunny.

This week will be more rush projects, meetings and doctors' offices. My vitamin theory is holding up, but I fear I'll have to get some Vit A for the eyes. I've put drops in them, but I swear my vision was better two weeks ago. MRI without contrast in a couple of weeks - the neurosurgery appointment went well. He's going to monitor my cyst. No surgery any time soon unless this MRI shows unexpected growth. Need to catch up on my sewing for class, but I'm not too far behind.
