American Idol, 80s rock and more

Last month I worked two very different concerts.

The first was one David Cook and Need to Breathe. At first NtB reminded me of the King of Leon and I was instantly turned off. But the more they played, the more I got into them. Plus, they had a nice cover of Tom Petty's "You Wreck Me" I've always loved that song! Plus, the totally stripped down all acoustic number was very very nice in our theater.

As for Mr. Cook, I had only heard his name because he won American Idol. It seemed as though his songs all sounded the same therefore I didn't mind the show being a little over 60 minutes long. That said, I think we needs to write a varity of songs and extend his show a bit. I know he only has one album, but throw in some covers or something. Get the crowd into it instead of making them leave midway through. That said, I did get his guitar pick somehow....anyone want it? ;)

The second concert I worked was Downtread, LA Guns and Whitesnake. Downtread has one very entertaining drummer. Other than that, nothing too special there. LA Guns were a bit better (to me), yet nothing I really liked enough to buy an album. Whitesnake was definitely there to party and David Coverdale really didn't disappoint the fans that did show up. I even knew a handful of songs and I always get a kick out of that. Although 10 minute guitar solos always make me bored. Luckily it was followed by a nice drum solo.

Overall, I liked the Whitesnake show better than the Cook show. Still, I wouldn't have gone to either one had I not been working them.
