It is amusing when the cat returns to the room and looks shocked, SHOCKED I TELL YOU, to find me exactly where she left me minutes before.

Typing is hard when there's a cat on your lap between your waist and the laptop, and she fervently believes that what you're actually trying to do is pet her head.

Also, I'm re-reading Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey. She's created a very rich, nuanced world here. I'll admit it's not for everyone, but I find it absorbing.
