Update

My mom and grandfather are about 40 minutes away. They had to go north to San Juan Capistrano before they could come east. They will be spending the night here - the spare bedrooms are going to come in handy tonight. I heard that my grandmother is at an evacuation center somewhere on Camp Pendleton. And that my mom's best friend's trailer burned down. She evacuated with her two sons and their cats: everyone is okay. The Pala Mesa Resort and golf course, just west of the old highway 395, is said to be burning. I hope that Live Oak Park doesn't burn, but it's right in that area. This is all I've heard so far. We have all been calling around, but there are lots of folks we can't locate. Cell phones aren't working real well right now, and not everybody has them. I'm sure everyone's probably evacuated. I'm sure they're just dealing with the chaos. Still, I look forward to hearing them sound off over the next day or so as everything (hopefully) calms down.

My sister and brother-in-law are here at my place, too, even though their house is just down the street. My sister came over to "help me get ready." We went food shopping and brought back many microwaveable items, (nobody feels like cooking), and some wine and beer. Nobody feels like being alone. The guys are flipping back and forth between football and the news.

I wish my grandmother was here, but other than that, everything is about as good as it could be. Thanks to all for all your continued good thoughts.

Edited to add: We just got a call from our old roommate from Fallbrook: the house Jimmy and I lived in when we first moved in together, with the two guys from the band, is gone. (They're evacuated and just fine - it was them that called us). That house was at the far east end, but it was IN TOWN. I have to assume that Live Oak Park is mostly if not completely gone if the fire has moved that far west. If that house is gone, there's a very good chance that my mom's house, (the A-frame), will burn, and that my grandparents' house will burn. It's only about a mile further west, almost in a straight line. The town just isn't that big. My hometown is burning down.

It's amazing how calm I feel, under the circumstances. I just wish I had more news about what's going on. Even the "recent updates" on most websites are things that I first saw 3 hours ago. A lot can happen in 3 hours.
