A great day yesterday. It was a "Beer & Musuem" day yesterday (one our regular trips out for cutlure and hops) to visit Goldsmith Hall and a exhibition on English Church plate. As Nick has already commented on his blog (www.nickjordan.co.uk) we had expected mostly Victorian stuff but in the end it wsa mostly 16th & 17th century and a few (very wonderful) examples of some early stuff. Including a wonderful (and very bling) belt owned by William de Wykham and an amazing 10th crozier from Durham. Unfortunately it was no cameras - so no pics.
Then on to the beer and the continued hunt for a pub suitable for the KWHS pub evening and I think we had some success in the form of the Enterprise pub -
http://www.fancyapint.com/pubs/pub201.html - all one the one level, open on a saturday, happy for us to have an area, food and a disabled loo, all in a very nice looking victorian pub! Bingo
Then Nick, me,
bend_gules and her chap enjoying the sunshine wandered in to Clerkenwell and the 3 of them got a tour (whether they wanted it or not!), I was surprised how much came back from my training, as I've not really done anything with my Clerkenwell training, quite a lot came back and I was able to tell them reasonable amount about exmonth market, spa fields, clerkenwell green, the clerks well, st Johns gate and something on Charterhouse as well. This is great because I've said I will do a proper tour for the KWHS people in September!!
Today is a day of rest after some busy days and also some prep for the Winchester Pilgramage - my favourite so far SCA event - next week. Oh and it is the British GP, a great event I'm told! ;-)
