Location: Bastet's house, Section 4
Rating: PG-13 for possible language
Summary: When Bastet doesn't show for her Hatchery shift, Snap comes to her house in his search. Raise is allegedly just there for his pets, and is not at all checking up on her.

She wasn't gone. He kept that thought with him as he searched through the sphere. Bastet was here. Those two boys had pointed out the most of unlikely things, something she would never do. Not intentionally. She was...like him. They both walked the path of soldiers, upholding order and maintaining their duty. For the people, some part of him whispered.

He agreed with it as he stepped into housing. Burn my back. He still didn't understand that line yet it rang with the same kind of sense of duty. Prevent another destroyer from rising into the world, bring it to peace. Carve your mark in history as the one who drenched the world in flames and...what ( ... )

The sight of the journals that morning had been more than a little distressing- As soon as he returned, Bastet hadn't shown up for her shift at the hatchery- not even a note that she would have missed it. While he could picture her being distracted or urgent business arriving, he knew the woman to be practical enough to make a note in the journal or ask someone to do it for her ( ... )

Bastet didn't know how long she'd been home when she heard the door open. She sensed two people at the front of the house...and they weren't Apple and Moon ( ... )

Snap had to stop and take in the sight of all the animals moving about in the living room. It reminded him of her...less than stellar handling of the rationing supplement attempt situation. He hadn't blamed her for being angry. Yet he couldn't help but wonder if there was more to it than met the eye. He heard someone coming and silently shifted his fingers, if he needed to ( ... )

He simply nodded to Snap, thanking him quietly, before looking to the woman. He wasn't able to keep from frowning slightly at Bastet's state- worn, undernourished, and altogether looking as though she had been caught under a train. Brow creasing he shook his head- Snap had addressed the first immediate concern- something had obviously happened for her to be in such a state. While he knew her job to be stressful, especially when she had to limit herself as much as ordinary humans- and God knew she was far from that- but even then, for her to be in shambles ( ... )
