Weird Boys and Diseases

Jul 31, 2005 20:37

Monday, July 25...I got back to work from my trip home only to find out that Lakeisha had went to the clinic that morning to find out that she had herpes and chlamidya. For those of you that don't know, it's possible (slightly but still possible) for chlamidya to be transmitted through the air. Pretty much all the girls found out and they are totally creeped out wearing gloves around. I feel bad for her in that respect, yet, she is blowing it off and making a joke out of it. Another one of our girls has HIV and AIDS. The girls don't know that but we do. She's upset by it but she's fairly quiet. The news hit her pretty hard. It just amazes me these girls having such huge diseases at such a young age. I can't imagine going through all they have. Today was also Angel's birthday. She stayed out on pass until late in the evening. Of course, as usual, she didn't go to bed when she should. She wanted to talk to Ms. Smith but Ms. Smith was already outside talking to one of the girls who was upset. So Angel got mad, came back in and kicked in our door and jammed it. Then she proceeded to throw the clipboard across the room. Ms. Smith hadn't told her she wouldn't talk to her. She just said she'd have to hang on. That girl needs to learn to control her temper! Today I didn't get to talk to Aaron...come to find out later he lost his phone. :(

Tuesday, found out Aaron's phone was lost cuz he emailed me. He hadn't the night before because his parents wouldn't let him online. Work day...found out that Mr. Rossier likes me...wow...ok there's news for ya. He's cute enough but I can't imagine being with him. Not even a date. We're just too different! He just wants some ass. Hate to break it to him, but I don't even have much of one. Today, before my shift started, JJ had chased Paige to the bathroom so that she could beat her up. It was a huge ordeal and they both got criticals because Paige wouldn't come out of the bathroom when prompted. Hell, I wouldn't have either if I was being threatened! The stupid Unit 1 team came in and busted the door open on her with her pants 1/2 down. Our entire staff agrees that was completely uncalled for. I don't see how the heck it was necessary when she was being threatened. Then that afternoon on my shift JJ just suddenly got up and started attacking Lakeisha. For once, Lakeisha hadn't even done anything. Lakeisha got bruised up a bit but otherwise she's fine. JJ definitely is acting up like this for a reason. I'd bet that she is just trying to get in trouble because she knows they are trying to place her at Padia's Place and that if she acts up, she won't be placed there. She likes it here for some reason. I think it's because she's built relationships with the staff and she hasn't had that before and doesn't want to lose it. It's sad that she doesn't have any family that cares for her. Today, the girls made fun of my monkey shirt. I've been wearing them all summer and the girls love them because we are the monkeys. So they feel like I'm supporting the cottage (actually I just love monkeys :)) Well the news girls came in and were making fun of it today. Not cool ladies! You're just jealous you don't have monkey shirts! At dinner, the girls couldn't get any food out of Miss Laura cuz she was hungry. Well since she'll eat cottage snacks with them (which they get replenished all the time), the girls said "Miss Laura's so poor that she needs to be on food stamps." Then, that evening Paige wouldn't stop singing. I asked her what was wrong. She told me that she wanted to have home visits and knew that she could but her family (stepdad) didn't want her home. I told her it was past the time that we could talk, but I would definitely talk with her in the morning if she'd go to sleep now. She was satisfied with that so she layed down and went to sleep. I was very proud of myself actually :)

Wednesday...went to work for just a little cuz we had the Redbirds game to go to tonight. When the girls first got back to the cottage today, since they've all been acting up, earlier bedtimes and no personal snacks were enacted. It's pathetic because they already have to go to bed an hour before the boys because of their behavior. They are all trying to single a few people out so that they can not lose all this stuff and we told them that they had to improve their behavior as a group. They were not happy with us at all. They were all jumping on each other for how they had done wrong. Paige found out about Eden and so she wants to see a pic. I told her I'd bring her one tomorrow. I hadn't driven that day so I didn't have my keys with me to show her the pic. Then, at the Redbirds game, I was talking with the CEO and he found out I was in Cottage 2 and he wanted to know why they'd put me in there since I was so small. He felt bad for me. I told him I loved it because each day was interesting and I'd learned so much about the girls this summer and their behaviors. It was funny though how EVERYONE within the Youth Villages company knows about our cottage though. Tonight, when I was at home, I was really missing Aaron since we hadn't really got the chance to talk this week with him being in Phoenix. It made me realize that when we get married, I want a few years of just us before we start a family. I don't want to share him right from the start. Yes, I realize that I always wanted to have kids by the age of 25, but this isn't going to happen this way due to our circumstances. That's fine. I'll be a great mom whenever I become one. Most importantly is developing that special relationship with my husband those first few years. Thursday wasn't a good day for Paige. That evening, she was put in 3 holds. She just has so much hurt and anger built up in her because of the way her family has treated her. I can't imagine my mother choosing my dad over my safety and well-being. If I told her I was getting abused, she would believe me. I know this because she has stepped in before when dad is going overboard yelling at me. It's sad that other parents won't help and love their kids like I've been lucky enough to have. Tonight, I went to Mr. Damron's house for dinner. Laura and I made it. It was delicious :) Great chicken Laura! And the garlic bread I made wasn't half bad either. We had the best Strawberry Daquiries I've ever had too for like $3.00! After dinner, I went home and Laura stayed to watch a movie.

Friday...spent the afternoon cleaning up poop. One of the girls had the toilet clog on her. It overflowed into the two rooms next to it and all into the hall. It took about 2 hours to get it all cleaned up. Needless to say, I pulled on the gloves for the first time ever. I didn't quite know that this was in my job description though! Tonight at dinner Angel commented to me about how she didn't like Miss Laura. That's funny considering that she adored her at the beginning of the summer and didn't want to even have to look at me. After dinner, I went to pick up Ice Cream for the Staff and Angel (of course she always gets everything). Took me forever to get there because it wasn't at all where I had been told it was. But, I got it and then ended up picking up McDonald's for one of the girls. Then I finally got back after all the girls were in bed. But, Paige had told Laura she wanted to talk to me. Her grandmother was sick and she's really upset about it. I can't blame her. I probably would be worried too. She really wants to be able to talk to her mom about it more and find out what's going on but of course she only gets 2 (7) minute phone calls a week. As I'm updating this so late, I don't remember what the disease was, but I do remember it wasn't life threatening and she would make it through it with some treatment.

Saturday, I left to go up to the lake to meet my dad's side of the family. I got there a little bit after lunch. We went out on the boat once and swam around and layed out. We didn't have the jet skis this year unfortunately :( My cousin Adam - who is only 6 weeks younger than I am - had brought his girlfriend Natalie. She is really sweet. I have a feeling she's going to be his one. She fit in great with the family! She even had Aeropostale pj pants just like mine except hers were pigs instead of monkeys. That night, I tried calling Aaron but he wouldn't answer. I finally gave up and went back in the house (I had to stand outside way up the drive to get reception) since it was cold AND I was sleepin in the loft where I had to walk by my aunt, uncle, and cuz to get to my bed. He called back a few times but every time I answered I lost reception. I cried myself to sleep cuz I'd wanted to talk to him so bad. It just sucked me being at hte lake with everyone and not having him there with me like I'd planned on.

Then when I woke up this morning, I wen to leave and had to call my parents back because I found out that the rock that had hit me on the way up yesterday due to a huge SUV being in front of me in a construction zone hadn't just bounced off my windshield after making a huge sound. It had waited til the heat of the day had settled on it, cooled off, and heated up again to make a huge crack across my windshield. And of course, it splintered all the way up to right in my view. AHHHH!! Don't people know I'm broke?! Overall...terrible weekend...booo :(
