Alright. Those of you following me on Twitter might have noticed I got a new Twitter account. There's a funny little story to how I got it.
I was watching the new SHERLOCK episode on BBC1 last saturday (jan 1st) and in this episode Sherlock mentioned a Twitter account name which supposedly belonged to Miss Irene Adler. The name was 'TheWhipHand'. I immediately went to that page and had a look around. It was a bit vague but obviously set up by the BBC production team. There were a few tweets on it and some @replies to a @Codextim. I clicked on the account name but the account didn't exist. So I made a new Twitter account using that name and apparently I was the first coz it worked and I got the account up and running. Straight away the followers came streaming in. Now, two days later, the count is on 164. I only had less then 100 followers on my regular account (although, because I linked to it that account now also has 100+ followers) so I decided to start using the new account as my primary. The funny thing is that as the episode will be repeated or shown in other countries I expect more people to land on Irene Adler's account and thus come to follow me. It would be rather fun to see if that really happens.
Anyway I had a lot of fun with Twitter, it was a nice sort of gift. That's how I see it. At the start of the year I got my hands on an account that has some public exposure and gained more followers in a day than I gained in all my time on Twitter.
Not sure what good it's going to do me but at least more people will see the links I post to any new uploaded videos of mine. Also I find it comforting to have an account that none of my family know about because to be frank, I don't like any family members following me online. It feels like I have to watch my words so on this account I'm free to speak my mind again (as long as it remains secret to my family that is).
Anyway, that's the story behind me new Twitter account.
