This was the 4th item from the top on the official Seattle Japanese consulate website! I note in poking around further that there is a lending library there for videos and for music.

You know those grooves they etch into the highway that make strange noises to alert you to something when you drive over them?

Well it seems that someone in Japan has figured out that spacing the grooves at certain intervals will produce specific notes. From there it was one small step for music-kind to the “Melody Road.”
