Here is a dated but thoroughly delightful article about maintaining continuity in sprawling, multiple-creator-written series.

In a pleasant "where is he now" coincidence, whatistigerbalm has posted to scansdaily an eight page story written by Darko Macan, a European creator whose work appeared in the first few issues of my anthology ZU. "Mister Bookseller" is a touching story about a bookstore owner who has every book except the one he wants the most.

In comics, most creators seem to do the same type of thing over and over. One who doesn't is Bryan Talbot. His next project is Grandville, an anthropomorphic steampunk mystery. His Alice in Sunderland was the most mindblowing graphic novel I've ever read, and I've at least enjoyed all of his other books, so Grandville goes on my must-read list.

Comic Book Galaxy posts an article on the history and techniques of pirating comic books. I have found torrents to be a good way to sample a new series I'm unsure about. I started buying a few new titles, like Invincible and The Boys, that way.

I visited the Fantagraphics store - excuse me, "Mega Mart" (1201 S. Vale St, Seattle, 98108), on its first day of operation this past Saturday. This is the Georgetown neighborhood, and is not only near our house but very near the Fantagraphics warehouse, making restocking a cinch.
