http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/science/05/18/ecuador.volcano.ap/index.html Big volcanic eruptions!
Sillyduck8, remember that night when we couldn't see anything way up in the mountains, waiting for the volcano to erupt???
You should come back now. :)
Unfortunately, it's about 8 hours away and the roads will probably be closed due to, you know, spewing ash and explosions, but still... how often to you get to see an exploding volcano?
In other news, really good day today. Did 5 home visits, got one kid to come back to the shelter, did follow up work with a former project kid who'd dropped off our radar about 3 years ago and I finally tracked down...he was really surprised and really happy to see me, and we had a good talk. Two of the older teens who had been acting pissed off and teenager-y with me all week both independently apologized, and there was hugging. One kid who I hadn't really talked to before opened up a lot about his life, including his past involvement with gangs...really scary stuff, how close some of these kids have come to dying. Multiple times. I could get very reflective about that, but not right now.
Finally, tonight we had a huge Mass with all of the kids and it was just really lovely. Sometimes (most times) they're all fidgety and I'm more focused on the kids than what's going on, but tonight everything just seemed calm and peaceful and very full of love. It's hard to explain beyond that, but it was good. Oooh, and Davy's getting baptized Tuesday. Yay! Please pray for him and his mom!
