Pegasus had also gone out. He had a feeling that they would have been polite enough to offer him cake and tea if he'd hung around, but he would have felt awkward. It had been a long time since he'd had any real family to celebrate such occasions with, and it would have been awkward for him and them. Better to just excuse himself and go out.
But not too far out. He didn't like cold weather, and this weather was definitely too cold for his liking. He made it a few blocks before he gave up and decided he needed to go inside and thaw out a bit. As he was searching for shelter, he caught a glimpse of pink through the glass windows of the greenhouse. That was a good enough sign for him, so he went to let himself in.
The sound of someone else entering the greenhouse drew Siegfried from his reverie. When he saw it was just Pegasus - a somewhat chilly-looking Pegasus - he smiled. He'd not expected to be found out here, but he hadn't exactly been hiding either. "I would have thought you to be inside where it is warm," Siegfried said by way of greeting.
"I am inside where it's warm," Pegasus pointed out. "Warmish, anyway. I'm afraid I didn't make the guest list for the little soiree our roommates are having, and it's so rude to show up without an invitation."
"Oh, come now," said Pegasus, "it isn't that rare that we think along the same lines. Why, I agree with you on a lot of things! I agree with you on the importance of maintaining one's company; I agree with you on the necessity of choosing the proper wine with dinner; I agree that you are a dazzling specimen of humanity..."
"Then we at least agree on the important things," Siegfried stated agreeably. He wasn't about to argue, particularly with that last. Stepping away from the wall, Siegfried moved closer to Pegasus. "I suppose that when we at last return home, you shall try to win me over to your way of thinking on the little things - like cartoons."
"Maybe a little bit," said Pegasus. "I wouldn't want to corrupt you too much, though. I rather like you the way you are. I'll tell you what - if you sit through the cartoons with me, I'll let you take me shopping for clothes."
Siegfried pretended to think about that offer for a moment before giving his head a shake. "I shall pass on the cartoons, but I think I should still like to take you shopping."
It was tempting to suggest the opportunity for a bit of funny business in the dressing rooms, but Siegfried knew that when they returned home discretion would be necessary. "The chance to offer input on which outfits you would soon be helping me out of."
Siegfried draped an arm comfortably around Pegasus's waist. "Ah, but I could also offer assistance with your wardrobe as well. That would be a benefit, ja?"
"You have already stated that my taste is impeccable," Siegfried pointed out. "Therefore I'm certain that you would find me to be a superb fashion consultant..."
Siegfried eyed Pegasus thoughtfully. He had to admit that he wasn't certain he could get away with changing much. Pegasus's flamboyant style was practically his trademark.
And yet...
"While it is hardly the height of fashion, I do enjoy seeing you in your painting clothes," Siegfried admitted. "You always seem more... more... Comfortable? At ease? Does that make sense?"
