i just applied for a library card! yay! i'm so excited! i was not very impressed with the library in Valois Bay (closest branch to my old apartment), but the King County Library System has a really nice setup, so i'm actually looking forward to being a library patron again. not that i won't still buy some books, though. i just can't help myself. okay, it's so very me that applying for a library card is the event that finally makes me write an entry for LJ. it's not that i haven't been doing stuff; i just haven't done any exciting stuff while at or close to the computer. it's amazing how the computer being upstairs while i'm usually downstairs has cut down my amount of updating. *l* anyway, now that i'm here, i guess i'll finally update about all the stuff that i've been doing.

laundry and dishes are still my main activities, but i'm still good with that. i really thought i'd be getting bored with that by now, but i'm not. weird, huh? anyway, i've also been stripping the wallpaper in the room that will someday be my sister's library. for the time being, though, we're going to turn it into a little mini "apartment" for me. we're going to move some of my furniture from my storage unit (hopefully enabling me to move to a smaller, cheaper unit). the room is big enough that i'll be able to have a bedroom area and a sitting area. and Gwen will get her guest room back. which is important considering that Norm's parents are visiting in a couple of weeks, and my parents are visiting after that. last weekend, Gwen and i spent three hours scraping the icky "popcorn" texturing off the ceiling. excepting some little corner at the top of the wall that broke off from the main sheets and i was too short to reach, the wallpaper is all peeled off the one wall that was papered. i need to clean off those little top bits and finish sponging off the glue from about half the wall. hopefully we'll be able to get a start on re-texturing the ceiling (mudding) and texturing the papered wall this weekend. then i can finish that off during the week and start the painting after that. i'd like to be finished by next weekend so that we can move small stuff then. we're planning to move the furniture one day on the July 4th weekend. ooooh, i still need to reserve a truck! must remember to do that.

Zoe was sick a couple of weeks ago, so we all kind of "lost" those weeks. the poor thing had a UTI, which is even more traumatic for babies than the rest of us. i got a cold during that time, too, so we were all such happy campers. luckily, i was feeling better by the night desolatedrose and i had tickets to go see Bleach: Memories of Nobody at a theater downtown. that was cool. it's pretty spiffy to see anime on the big screen...not at a convention! some of the Fans were a little annoying during the pre-feature special, but that was off balanced by the fun of the big group in costume. they settled down quickly, so it was all good. and kinda the whole theater went squealy every time a regular character made his or her first appearance, so that couldn't be said to be just one group...even if we did miss each character's first line. despite not being caught up with the anime series (okay, i'm really behind), i really enjoyed the movie. actually, i really enjoy Bleach in general, so i may have to start buying it now that there are box sets. well, when i have a job and money and stuff.

the day after that i went out for lunch, walking, and shopping with my aunt and had an amazing time. it was the first nice day after a whole bunch of icky days, so it was wonderful when we walked around the park after lunch. it's the first time i've really hung out with my aunt like that, and i really enjoyed it. i guess it helps that i now, for the first time, live in the same area as her, but i think i can also relate as an adult now. i learned so much about my aunt as person...not anything i can put into words, but just my "feel" for her. it's really neat. we tried to see a movie, but nothing we wanted to see had a good start time. then we went and got a birthday gift for her roommate...and an early birthday gift for me! i now have the cutest Mariners baseball cap

.

which brings me to my next event. on Monday, Gwen and i went to a Mariners game. okay we totally lost, but it was still fun. and there was even a decent...and vocal...crowd, considering how poorly the team has been doing of late. we spent the hour or so before the game and the first four innings at the Hit It Here Cafe, where we got dinner. the view onto the field was not bad at all, and the food was really good. add to that a nice cup of hard cider, and all was well. we did eventually go to our actual seats...and picked up some cotton candy on the way. much fun. because Gwen had to go to work the next morning (and she goes in early!), we left during the eighth inning. saved us from traffic too. considering the score didn't change after we left, as well, it was a good decision.

tonight was supposed to be a semi-major event for me as well, but it didn't really turn out that way. Gwen and Norm were going to go out and stay in a hotel for a night and stuff for their anniversary, and i was going to take care of Zoe all by myself. feed her, wash her, put her to bed, and all that. not really that difficult since i have a small part in the process on a daily basis, but still an event. Baby Girl has been really cranky for the past couple of days, though...enough so that daycare remarked on it...so Gwen and Norm decided to just do dinner. and they even had time to feed her and put her to bed before they went. so desolatedrose and i hung out with the baby monitor and watched TV instead of having to do the whole deal. i'm sure i'll get to that eventually, though.

anyway, that's all the news for the past few weeks. wow, i really need to write more often. actually, i kinda want to do an entry on some of the books i've been reading, so maybe i'll actually do that in a couple of days. apologies for the big block of text, but for some reason, i don't feel that putting anything other than the picture behind a cut is quite right for this entry. i know. i'm weird.
