Not to downplay my V-Day post - It is the real meat and potatoes of today's postings... but I just watched 'Cube' and all I have to say is WOW.
The acting was HORRRRRRRRIBLE. Yes that is 6 extra R's. I am pretty sure it is Canadian made - I could check but I'm not that interested - and a good giveaway is the use of the city 'Saskatoon' in one of the lines. Dead giveaway? Methinks so. Anyways... some people are inside this giant cube dealie with a door in the centre of each of the sides of the rooms. Some of the doors lead to booby trapped rooms which kill you dead extremely effectively (and cool-ly sometimes!). These people all have some purpose or something.. and they are trying to get out.. the math girl saves the day by finding out that prime numbers are involved... no wait.. not just primes.. the numbers are 3D grid coordinates.. no wait... they are powers of primes and only an idiot savante could find the factors to determine if the number is prime or not... but WAIT! There is one right over here! The day is saved. Except.... nah.. I won't spoil the ending entirely. If you want to know since you will never actually watch the movie but are interested nonetheless (WTF?) you know how to reach me...
I think the movie concept had potential since it was pretty cool, but the disgusting acting and annoying characters really made this a teeth grinder. There were only 2 characters I didn't want to die and one of them was alive for like 5 minutes so... I probably would have hated him as well. It's such a shame that quality Canadian ideas can't be realized satisfactorily. I'm saddened by this display and am extremely wary of watching the sequel Hypercube. If I watch it I'll be sure to post my thoughts as well.
Sleep time.
