Characters: Dan Taichi and Akutsu Jin
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 for language
When/Where: Sunday the 29th, Akutsu's room
What: Dan brings Akutsu cookies, and doesn't get kicked out immediately. However, when he gets some dangerous data, Akutsu actually scares him for once.

Of course, Dan knew where Akutsu's room was. He had never been there before, but he did know where it was; it was just basic data, after all. He had also followed Akutsu around enough to know his basic schedule. Therefore, he now knew exactly which door to knock on, and was also reasonably sure he would find the person he sought on the other side of the door.

He just hoped he wouldn't get the door simply banged shut in his face.

Lying on his bed, Akutsu was making smoke rings lazily when the knock came. He grunted, eyes shifting towards the door. "Go 'way," he called out, taking another drag off of his cigarette.

Dan heard the response. Well, nothing he hadn't expected. "No, I won't," he called back, knocking again.

Groaning, the white haired vampire pulled a pillow over his face in frustration. Even in his room he wasn't safe, huh? Dammit..he pulled the pillow away when he realized he'd forgotten about the cancer stick in his mouth, and scowled at the black hole burned into it now. Tossing it aside, he hauled himself up and stomped to the door, flinging it open. "What!"

Dan stood unflinching even in the face of the sudden burst, looking calmly up at Akutsu. "I know you don't like drinking blood or blood tablets," he said, "so I thought you'd prefer some other way to get the blood you need."

"Show me one of you that likes the damn tablets," Akutsu snarled, deliberately not acknowledging the fact that he'd been drinking blood directly too.

"I don't know even one desu," Dan admitted. "But you haven't been a vampire all your life, so it must be even harder on you."

"Just as soon starve," the white haired vampire told him stubbornly.

"You will at that rate." Dan bit on his lip, though he did remember to be careful enough not to break skin. No reason to taunt Akutsu any more. "So, um... I made cookies. There's blood tablets in them but you can't taste it."

The taller vampire looked down at him, surprised. "You put that shit in cookies?"

"Dissolved in water, obviously. It's not like you're going to bite into it and chip your fang on a tablet desu."

Akutsu still made a face. "Not crazy about sweet shit, Shorty."

"I figured as much desu. That's why I didn't make it all sweet," Dan said. "I reduced the sugar in the recipe and only used dark chocolate. It shouldn't be too sweet, but it does hide the blood taste desu."

"So what're you givin' them to me for? Eat 'em yourself."

"Because I like the sweeter ones better, and I made the less sweet batch for you, obviously."

"No one asked you to do that," Aktusu frowned at him. "Now you think you gotta take care of me, Short Stack?"

"No. I just thought I'd be nice desu." Dan frowned right back. "It's not a crime, you know."

He was coming to know that look. He just wasn't in the mood to stand there arguing until the sun came up. Stepping back, he turned to walk back to his bed. "Get outta the hallway if you're gonna," he told him, flopping back on the bed. It wasn't like there was anything in his room for Dan to get into. Everything was pretty sparse and impersonal. No pictures or personal belongings except for the cigarette packs and ashtrays in the room.

Dan walked in, closing the door behind himself, one hand holding the box he'd filled with the latest batch of cookies. Less sweet than the original recipe, hopefully enough so to be okay with Akutsu. His eyes flew around the room, taking in the details. It was... bare. "...So do you actually live here beyond smoke breaks?"

"Sleep here." Akutsu shrugged. What else was there to do but sit and plot out his revenge over and over.

"It's just so... bare." It really seemed strange. His own half of the room he shared with Chitose was full of his personal things, unless Chitose had been playing with the winds and his things weren't only limited to his own half. "Don't you have any personal belongings or anything?"

"Nope. The hell would I bring anything like that?"

"As reminders. I mean, you do have a home somewhere, don't you?" ...He hoped. He hadn't met many Turned in his life, but few had happy stories.

"...Not no more," Akutsu finally uttered. He'd already accepted he was never going home to his mo--to Yuki ever again. "Ya said you had cookies?"

Dan frowned but decided not to press the issue any further for now. He would have time to ask about it later. "Yes, I did, and I do." He walked closer, opening the box he carried and setting it on the bed next to Akutsu.

They smelled...good, at least. He'd never been one for cookies, much to Yuki's chagrin, but he plucked one out anyway, turning it over in his hand a moment before cramming it into his mouth. The sweetness was still there...but mellow compared to how sugary cookies usually were. He could at least chew it instead of wanting to spit it out.

Why, yes, Dan was nervous. He knew it wasn't supposed to be anything important, he'd half exceeded his exceptions already in that Akutsu hadn't just kicked both him and his cookies out right away, but nevertheless he found himself very nearly fidgeting as he waited for any kind of a reaction.

It came grudgingly once Akutsu swallowed. "....Don't suck."

Now, Dan broke into a bright smile. "That's great~ I was a bit worried since I like them better sweet, myself, but I hoped they'd be at least tolerable anyway desu." He paused. "...They're definitely better than the tablets, though."

"No shit." Sitting up, Akutsu snacked on another.

"Ah... Akutsu-san?" He supposed now was as good a chance to ask as any. "Who exactly is Yuki?"

That earned him a glare. "None of your business," he grumbled.

"You know I'm just going to continue pestering you desu," Dan pointed out. "She's the only person I've ever heard you call. You're bothered by the thought of her dating, but you claim to be disgusted at the thought of dating her. Of course I'm going to get curious desu."

"None of your busin--" Of course his phone would have to ring then. And it just happened to be laying right next to where Dan was sitting.

It wasn't that Dan was trying to steal his phone, or even intercept the call. It's just that there was a phone ringing right next to his hand, yet not immediately within Akutsu's reach. It was almost natural for him to answer the call, even if it was with the sincere intent of handing the phone right on to Akutsu.

"Hai, Dan Taichi desu~"

"Oi!"

The voice on the other end was female and confused sounding. "Ah, hello Dan-kun...This is Jin-chan's phone isn't it?"

"Yes, it is~ I'll get it right to him desu." He indeed handed the phone right away to Akutsu, the nice little boy he was, even as he mouthed, 'Jin-chan?' with a tiny grin.

Akutsu snatched it out of his hand with a barely restrained glare of death. "Yuki stop calling," he snarled the second he had the phone to his ear. His mother only laughed and asked him about his new friend. And that Dan-kun sounded cute.

Obviously nobody could blame Dan for listening very closely to what he could snatch of the conversation. Sometimes it certainly helped to have superhuman hearing~ Especially if you also had the guts to give a perfectly innocent smile in the face of a glare while listening in to the call.

Unaware of this, Akutsu growled into the phone, trying to end the call. "Yuki just don't call me," he told her bluntly. She sighed at him from the other end. "Jin-chan, you're so stubborn. I wont call you so much if you start calling me Mom again," she told him.

'Mom'? Dan blinked. Well, that certainly answered most of his questions... and he supposed it wasn't that unlikely for Akutsu to call his mother by her first name. A bit rude, perhaps, but then Akutsu was hardly the shining paragon of virtue when it came to good manners.

Said non-paragon only proved that point more by simply hanging up on his mother and shutting his phone off, tossing it aside with an irritated look on his face.

"You actually hang up on your mother?"

Eyes widening, Akutsu snapped out a hand to wrap around Dan's shirt, yanking the smaller vampire intimidatingly close. "Were you listening, you little shit?" he hissed.

"I wasn't listening, I just heard." Dan wasn't afraid. Not really. He did feel fairly uncomfortable, though. Akutsu hadn't actually hurt him this far, no matter how annoying he might have been; however, while that did make him somewhat more trusting that was perhaps all that wise, that didn't mean Akutsu would never hurt him, ever.

"You stay away from her," Akutsu hissed lethally. "You even breath about her to anyone and I'll kill you," he promised, the threat fully echoed in his eyes.

"'Stay away?'" Dan echoed. "Why would I go anywhere near her? I'll admit I've followed you around, but that's because I like you, not your mother desu."

"NOT FUCKING AROUND!" The turned vampire spat. "You better swear that on every last drop of your fucking blood," he snarled venomously, "Cause that's what I'll take from you if you're ever within a mile of her," he swore.

Okay. This was getting actually scary. Dan's eyes were very wide as he stared at Akutsu, his voice tiny as he spoke. "...I swear desu."

Glaring at him for a long moment as he searched his face for the sincerity, Akutsu dropped Dan's shirt and shoved him away. "Out," he ordered.

Dan swallowed, gave a tiny nod, and hurried away.

He wasn't sure if he managed to hold the tears in until the door closed behind him, but at least he didn't notice them until then.
