American Gangster.

Saw it yesterday.  Amazing.  Along with Michael Clayton, my favorite of the year.  Compelling visuals and very rough around the edges, the things I like best about Ridley Scott's style.  He never blinks.  I always leave his films feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack (there were times when you felt like you were breathing all the heroin they were cutting).  Denzel Washington's protrayal of Frank Lucas was remarkable, one of his best IMO.  This one is not for the faint of heart.  Anxiously awaiting August Rush.

Gearing up for the Holiday.   All the mandatory cleaning supplies are in place.  I wish someone would use them.  I'm not in the mood.  I'm driven by the prospect of a 5 extra people and another dog in my house, so it will have to happen before next Wednesday.  I've spent way too much time at the Y curiously looking over the responses to last night's CSI:

The real crossover this season is between reality and fiction.  The general perception of Goodbye and Good Luck seems to be so heavily influenced by real life events that objectivity is suffering.  I actually liked it.  It had the darkness (from the old days) and an eerie resemblance to Alter Boys.  I can't think of anyone scarier than Hannah, who was the perfect vehicle to drive Sara over the edge.  I did not want to see Sara leave, but if she had to, some masochistic part of me loves that it was dark and angsty.  Of course it helps to know that she'll probably be back, even if it is only for sweeps.  I never wanted anyone to leave the original cast; I wanted all of them together till the end.  : (

Cool and sunny here... fall colors are just getting started.  I wait for this all year.  Oh, and I'm a Great Aunt twice over since I posted last.  Both boys.  Yesss.

Guess I should quit fooling around and give my Sadie a bath.  She smells like a flower.  Not.  Mollie just got a haircut and she's freezing her tail off.  She's all wrapped in a blanket and she looks like a burrito on the couch.
