when the ipod first came out i was completely against it. in fact, i was aghast that anyone would replace their cds and records with something so evil that it could've only be masterminded by steve jobs. anytime someone would even mention it, i would go on and on about liner notes and artwork and being a "full album girl" and how could anyone distort the artist's vision like that?! i hated my mom's ipod with its black and white screen and its cute pink color (although secretly i admired the fact that you could carry your entire record collection in it and not have to haul around a cd player and 100 carefully chosen cds wherever you went).
so when i moved back here and someone who owed me a lot of money finally paid me back, i caved. i bought a motherfucking ipod. in fact, i'm on my second one.
as you can imagine, when the sony reader came out and then the amazon kindle, my reaction was similar to the above. i mean, who could give up the scent of books, the feel of the weight of them in your hands, the cover art, the crispness of the pages and collecting hundreds of bookmarks because you constantly lost them?
of course, that didn't stop me from haunting the amazon.com forums for the kindle and reading reviews and watching the demonstration video. and then my family gave me a bunch of gift certificates to amazon.com and i watched the video again and again and saw how newspapers and magazines and blogs would be downloaded automatically if you subscribed.
well, i'm sure you know where this is going... i got my kindle in the mail yesterday and i've already read 2.5 books on it and the irish times.
mock me if you will, but the only way you're getting my ipod touch and my kindle away from me is by prying them from my cold, dead hands.
