i saw sex in the city the movie with mom and dad last night even though i've watched maybe a whole three episodes of the show, dad has watched like ten and mom has never seen it at all. surprisingly, i actually liked it.
been working on cleaning out the living room since we're getting new carpet installed next week. ugh, will this remodeling shit ever end? now my dad is talking about the kitchen floor and getting an electrician in to rewire some stuff and maybe buying new blinds and i'm like, enough already!!! i could really do without coming home to a driveway full of contractors' trucks.
working my way through season 3 of entourage and i'm working on a fic too. eric/vince, pre-series. we'll see when i have time to write more of that.
should know if i got promoted early this week. kind of nervous about that.
have a meme....
You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.
Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out.
1. First Name: kerry. but pretty much no one calls me that. it's either bliss or key or rere or sis or 'neesama or blar or something else. seriously.
2. Age: 27. i'll be 28 in a couple of months though.
3. Location: southwest suburbs of chicago, il, usa, north america, planet earth.
4. Occupation: analyst. or at least that's what it says in my hr file. really, i write programs and then analyze the stuff that comes out of them. and some other boring stuff.
5. Partner: i don't have one. don't really want one right now. i've always been okay with being single.
6. Kids: i'd like some. maybe. someday. i would like to adopt, but given the whole single-girl thing, that's probably not likely.
7. Brothers/Sisters: two brothers. they're twins. tom and bren.
tom is a writer and he lives in seattle with his fiance, jill, who is in the same profession. mostly, he does game reviews and that kind of thing, for which he makes next-to-nothing. jill is independently wealthy though, so it's not as though he actually needs an income. they're working on some kind of novel about zombies together. somehow that involved them going to london for a month. i don't know. they both love food, wine and traveling. and they're getting married in september of 2009.
bren is a computer engineer who also lives in seattle where he works for mr. gates. he's a serial monogamist who falls in and out of love at the drop of a hat. right now, he's trying that whole 'playing the field' thing but i doubt it will last. he's kind of emotionally unavailable to pretty much everyone and looks at the world as though it's part of an equation he needs to solve. he's a good guy but just needs to lighten up a bit.
vicinity is not my biological sister, but she's family all the same. i've known her for what seems like a billion years. she likes chus and pigeons and is basically the best person you'll ever meet.
8. Pets: currently, just vinni the wonder dog. he's a shih tzu. we got him from a rescue organization for his breed. he knows verbal and non-verbal commands, has a vocabulary of over 100 words, can walk on his hind legs at will, and leaps tall buildings in a single bound. his weaknesses are eggs, meat of any kind, cheese, and ice cream. but he can't have dairy products because he's lactose intolerant. i spoil him to pieces.
9. List the three to five biggest things going on in your life: 1) up for a promotion at work; 2) remodeling the house (still!); 3) summer stuff like sox games, the taste, gardening.
10. Parents: my mom works for a local grocery store on the overnight shift where she changes prices and types up signs. she hates her job but hates asking my dad for money even more, so she's been working there for 13 years. when she's not working, she hangs out with me a lot. we get along famously as we pretty much like all of the same things. she's an awesome artist, although she hasn't done anything with her talent in years other than scrapbooking, and is often mistaken as my sister. probably because she looks like she's in her thirties instead of her fifties, dresses in the latest fashion, and keeps up-to-date with music and technology. she is beyond awesome.
my dad works in emergency management and therefore travels all the time. we tend not to get along despite the fact that we agree on a lot of things. he likes cars and shoes and never throwing anything away, ever. he grew up with nine brothers and sisters and his dad was an abusive fuck. despite this, he still spends every saturday with his mom, who wasn't much better. he has like three degrees in various subjects and can calculate the volume of a container in his head, but can't eat without getting food stains on his shirt. he also does awesome voice imitations and remembers everything i've ever said. he's a good guy.
11. Who are some of your closest friends?
vicinity. some people from university who still live in new york. a couple of chicks from high school. uhh... i'm not really a bff, in-touch-all-the-time kind of person. like, i'll go for months without talking to someone but still consider them a friend. okay?
i think it's time to go to bed. or at least watch more entourage.
ps-
lol
