Irma

This afternoon I canceled the book club at my house tomorrow. Everyone is very busy with preparation for the hurricane and they all thought that was a good idea. So I said I'll have it here it next month.

At this moment we are not sure exactly where Irma will be heading once it gets close to the south tip of Florida, so we are getting ready as much as we can. Over the next day or so, as need be, Pete and I will start going through the yard and picking up things that might become projectiles or get damaged. I went to the store this morning only to pick up a few things for the food I was going to be making tomorrow and it was a panic out there. All the water is gone from the shelves. Gas stations are either closed or almost out of gas, the traffic on the roads is crazy! But I now have lots of things to make finger foods with.

I am thinking of going to the island tomorrow and bring all my art home because the gallery does not have insurance, and not responsible for any damage. A few have already removed theirs. I think it might be premature, but if I'm going to do it, I need to do it sooner rather than later because if they evacuate the island, no one gets on or off until they say so, which could be weeks. A huge job that I'm not looking forward to. Pete would go with me, but he's got his Fire Dept. lunch and then a dentist appointment. I have to say this is only the second time I have been worried about a hurricane since we've lived here...44 years now. It is a monster with 185 mph winds and no matter where it decides to go, it will do a lot of damage. The entire State of Florida is under a State of Emergency.

We found out what those guys were doing with the blue discs. My sister mentioned it might be Disc Golf, and I googled it and sure enough that is what they were doing. But they were still being mean and not even aiming for the "golf holes" that were set up like wire baskets on a pole, but for the birds.

Here's a recent picture I took at Star Fish Co. I love it there and I really like the way this turned out...very peaceful looking.
