My new glasses might come in this week! They put a rush on them for Tuesday, so I could have them before we head on up to Georgia next Monday. I ordered ones that have no rims at all on them. I’ve never had ones quite like these before.
I’m excited about our trip to see Laurie, her new home and some new terrain, too. We’ve picked out a few places we’d like to see while there. The Georgia Botanical Gardens, Helen, Talullah Falls, and the Aquarium. Pete wants to go to Stone Mountain. We have been there before twice many years ago and it must have made quite an impression on Pete. He usually doesn’t care where we go and always says wherever you want to go is fine with me. I guess we’ll be taking some warmer clothes, too!
We’ve had a bit of cold weather here, too. This morning it was 56 and very windy. It has warmed up into the high 60s now at 5 p.m., and we’re predicted to keep warming up to about 80 in a few days. No rain though . . . it’s been about a month now and everything is so dry.
My sister
egg_shell got me a wonderful book for my birthday…. “The Genius of Birds” by Jennifer Ackerman. The very first thing inside the jacket says, “Birds are astonishingly intelligent creatures! According to revolutionary new research some birds rival primates and even humans in their remarkable forms of intelligence.” Then it goes on to tell some fascinating things that birds can do . . . I am hooked! The reviews and comments are high on this book.
Got my hair cut this morning. I actually like it this time and think it will be good with my new glasses!
Sales at the gallery are starting to pick up as the season begins. Someone came in a few days ago and bought two large canvas prints. She said they just moved here from Texas and are starting to decorate their house. She said she loves all the birds we have here! I’m so happy to accommodate!
Today is Tracy's birthday! We are heading in to see her soon. My baby is 48!
Ahh ha . . . so that's what they do with their legs while flying! I love photographing dragonflies, but most of my shots have been while they are stationary. The few I have gotten in flight were never as good as this one showing how they position their legs while flying.
Brown pelicans at Warner's Bayou from juvenile (first and second year) to adult. The ones with the yellow heads are the adults and they could be male or female--they are almost identical so it's very hard to tell. The rest are the juveniles . . .
Pelican with 7 foot wingspan!
Male Brown-headed Cowbird at Jigg's Landing . . .
This little anole sure looks like it is about to give birth soon. They are usually very slender. OR, maybe it just ate a huge bug . . .
Watering the bird . . .
Early sun hitting the back succulent gardens . . .
Tillansias in bloom . . .
