windows and doors and dad . . .

The installation of the new door to replace the little slider in my studio is done and three of the floor to ceiling windows in the bathroom shower are finished, too. There are two big sliders (one six foot and one eight foot) and one three foot pocket door that will be turned into a stationary floor to ceiling window (that is where the butterflies and the mirror curtains hang in the bathroom) left to do. They will be installed next Monday and Tuesday, I believe. The white vinyl framing instead of the original (45 year old) dark brown chipped metal framing make a huge difference and brighten things up so much. I’ll be glad when it is all done and we can start to put the house back together and not have workers here all day. I’ll show before and after pictures when they are all complete.

I think of my Dad a lot while all this is going on. He built the family home we were raised in pretty much single-handedly. He was talented in so many ways and did amazing work when it came to carpentry and building things. If he were here, I know he would be hanging out at my house and/or coming by everyday to check out the progress. He passed away almost nine years ago. Today is his birthday and he would have been 106. We always celebrated our birthdays together. Happy birthday, Dad! I love you and miss you every day.
