Valentine House . . .

Jul 03, 2011 23:45

After everyone went home tonight there was still a little bit of daylight left so I headed down the road to Robinson Preserve for a quick walk.

The sun was going down pretty quickly, but what really got my attention almost as soon as I got out of the car were the dark clouds to the east.

This is Valentine House and was brought down the Manatee River on a barge several years ago, refurbished and is now set up as the Visitor Center at the preserve.

As I started walking into the preserve, I saw a lot of people heading out because there was a big old storm coming, but I was mesmerized by the sky and kept taking pictures.

I turned to the west and the sky was so different

now back to the east . . .
As the sky got darker, the house seemed to get lighter like it was glowing.

One girl passed me and almost screamed, "You'd better come on now lady! You wouldn't want to get caught out here!" I think I finally came to my senses and started walking back. I just made it into my car when the first drops hit and then a big whip of lightning! Yikes!
