Pond Ducks
This morning I went to the pond early. As I drove in I saw this beautiful male Wood Duck sitting on a rock on the bank. I thought maybe he was still sleeping or just waking up, or maybe just drowsy in the warm sun. He looked so cute all curled up in a little compact package. I crept as close as I could and got this shot. He looks like he's keeping his eye on me for sure.
. . . then suddenly he saw me or I was getting too close for comfort and he quickly jumped in the water and swam away.
I find it interesting and puzzling that the first picture I took shows blue water, and the second one (about 20' away) shows green water.
Also saw these two mallards, a male and female swimming around. They were very skiddish, too, and flew away. They looked just like Waddles and WooWoo. Hopefully they will come back and get used to me. Waddles and WooWoo would come up and eat from my hand.
