I am looking forward to my high school reunion…but before this, I had to run a ton of errands today, I’m so tired. I drove all over to place which included a bank deposit and purchases of: 3 piece grill set, 2-cycle fuel stabilizer for my trimmer, 9W 4-pack of compact fluorescent twister bulbs “Go Green!”, a plastic milk crate, and last week’s comic books.

Since, Nebraska has decided to move from the Big Eight to Big 12 and now the Big Ten and Colorado to the Pac-10, if I were starting a college athletic conference, I’d shoot for the impossible. The teams would be from expanded regions with championships from different sports. The New Conference Sixteen: Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Florida, Virginia, Colorado, Arizona, California, Stanford, Pennsylvania, New York, Vanderbilt, Rice, Baylor, Army. If you notice, there are actually nineteen teams. Since one or more colleges might not compete in the lucrative sports; college football and men’s & women’s basketball, etc. I think it would be interesting adding private universities to the back end of the conference: “Stupid college football & their television contracts.”

Looking at the geography of my make-believe conference, it splits the U.S. in half. Excluding the east with Virginia, Vanderbilt, New York, and Army, all these colleges are connected by the touching of borders. From an academic stand point this conference could do without Arizona, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and Baylor the last four are current Big 12 schools. I didn’t consider Alabama since their academics are currently even with Kansas and Nebraska. If you take out the top and bottom three schools academically (U.S. News & World Report) and minus the military school, you’re left with; Stanford, Pennsylvania, Rice, Vanderbilt, Virginia, California, New York, Illinois, Florida, Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado, Baylor, Kansas, Nebraska, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Army.
