Hamstertown

My sons care little for my musical tastes, save for a grudging tolerance for Bollywood numbers. The intersection points in our respective Venn Diagrams for musical interests consists pretty much of:
1. Bruce Springsteen's The Seeger Sessions
2. "You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd" by Roger Miller, and
3. They Might Be Giant's cover of "Istanbul (not Constantinople)."

For a while, Boy Wonder was wandering around town singing at the top of his lungs: "Even old New York was once New Hamster Town," but he soon realized that his parents were laughing at him, so he self-corrected and now sings: "Even old New York, was once New Hampshire Town."

He puts up with Mom and Dad joking about New Hamster Town, but doesn't admit to ever having said it.

By the way, the actual lyric is "Amsterdam," not "New Hampshire town," but Amsterdam is not on his map of the United States hanging above his bed-- so logically, since New Hampshire is another recognizable geographic location, it is the correct one. We will not set him straight for a while.

For fun, you can watch the Tiny Toons music video to TMBG here:

If the little one had his way, YouTube would be nothing but this clip.
